Maletta, 2012
Acredito que esta é minha primeira obra, ainda que na época eu não soubesse disso. Trata-se do trabalho final da disciplina de fotografia, cursada durante o primeiro semestre da minha graduação em Publicidade e Propaganda. Eu destruí o objeto em 2015, possivelmente. Aqui apresento uma simulação digital do resultado perdido.
Meu objetivo foi o de reconstruir a janela mais alta do Edifício Maletta, o primeiro arranha-céu da cidade de Belo Horizonte (déc. 1950). Eu decompus a esquadria, fotografando cada retângulo individualmente. Em seguida, ao imprimir cada uma das imagens em escala real, eu remontei a janela. O dispositivo permitia levar a vista para qualquer outro lugar – e à época, era o que me interessava.
Hoje reconheço aqui uma observação, ainda ingênua mas muito genuína, da fotografia como ferramenta de decomposição do olhar, do espaço e do tempo.
Felizmente, eu nunca perdi os arquivos.
I believe this is my first artwork, even though I didn't know it at the time. It was my final project for a photography course I took during the first semester of my Advertising and Propaganda undergraduate degree. I destroyed the object in 2015. Here I present a digital simulation of the lost result.
My goal was to reconstruct the highest window of the Maletta Building, the first skyscraper in the city of Belo Horizonte (1950s). I deconstructed the frame by photographing each rectangle individually. Then, by printing each of the images in full scale, I reassembled the window. The device allowed the view to be taken to any other place - and at the time, that was what interested me.
Today, I recognize here an observation, still naive but very genuine, of photography as a tool for decomposing the gaze, space, and time.
Fortunately, I never lost the files.
